Air separators

DV series centrifugal gas separator is installed to prevent errors due to gas and air inclusions. It is used in custody transfer installations for petrol, aviation, and other hydrocarbons as well as other liquids and guarantees measurement within permissible tolerances in the downstream flowmeter.
The DV series consists of a vertical cylinder vessel with inlet and outlet connections located tangentially. The automatic float controlled air release valve is located at the highest point. The sight glass on the valve housing provides for monitoring of air release process. the vessel is made in carbon steel.
The liquid enters into the gas separator from the inlet connection; the velocity decrease and the pressure distribution in the rotational flow permits efficient separation of air/gas inclusions from the fluid. The climb between the entry and exit generates on hydraulic head. The ample permanence time permits an efficient separation of the air that takes up the upper part; when there is enough air/gas, the sphere on the diaphragm valve is no longer sustained by the fluid and then the air vent valve opens, letting the gas flow out. When the gas is completely vented out, the liquid level raises again sustaining the sphere and thus making the air vent valve close.
The Isoil DV series is approved in Europe by EEC approval N° 06. 07. 03. 004. The parts under pressure are designed in accordance with the PED Directive for pressure vessel.

The strainer-air separators Isoil are necessary on a measuring system as protection against the foreign matter in the flow stream and to vent air essential for accurate metering. Interesting feature is the combined solution: filtering and air separation in one vessel. This allows a space reduction in the installation. Strainers are designed to give a minimum pressure drop and a maximum protection of the P.D. meter. The main characteristics is the great filtering surface of the basket respect to the liquid inlet/outlet section. This allows a long working time before the strainer’s cleaning. For specific uses of filtering only or air separation only, strainers FA type and air separators ASV type are available.

Standard design with carbon steel body material. At request in stainless steel AISI 304 and AISI 316. • Optional with design and fabrication per ASME section VIII or ISPESL (Italian specs.). Welding with inversed pick-up. Air vent valve installed on the top of the cover with connection Ø 1" NPT for air/gas discharge. Cover with handle for lifting. Strainer gauze in stainless steel AISI 304. Pressure drop at the max flow rate with cleaned filter: 2 KPa for white liquids and 6 KPa for black ones. Differential burst pressure: 150 KPa. Liquid flows through the strainer basket from external to internal to allow an easy removal of the impurities through the drain.

LS/AS strainers air separators are usually used to filter petroleum products or other liquids; the installation of strainer filters along the line is necessary to protect devices like PD meters, valves and other equipment from damage derived by foreign particles or crusts that may be present in the fluid flowing in the pipes.
The liquid to be strained enters the strainer through the inlet side, passing through the inside gauge (from outside towards inside of the straining basket) and conveyed towards the outlet side. Eventual air bags are concentrated in the upper part of the strainer being evacuated through the floating air vent valve. Solid matters, that are settled on the bottom of the strainer, are drained through an inferior orifice
